Description	Reports measurements of appropriated and unappropriated waters in Cache Valley, Utah during the summer of 1896. Sponsored by the Experiment Station of Utah, the Hydrographic Branch of the U.S. Geological Survey, and the Board of County Commissioners of Cache County, field workers measured every stream flowing into Cache Valley at three different times during the summer of 1896 as well as the capacity of every ditch and canal, and measured the outflow of the valley through Bear River Canyon. Surveyed streams, canals, etc. are depicted on accompanying map, "Cache Valley Basin in Northern Utah and Southern Idaho" drawn to scale of 1 mile per 1 cm. Collected data are reported in 29 tables and 8 figures. Report concludes with the calculated average duty of irrigation water for the whole Cache Valley area: in June 1896, 52 acres for each second-foot of water diverted; for July, 67 acres; for August, 113 acres; and for Sept., 166 acres. Average during the four months was 99.5 acres.
