Description	This conference in the matter of pollution of the interstate of the Bear River involving the States of Idaho, Utah, and Wyoming, is being held under the provisions of the Federal Water Pollution Control Act, Section 8. Under the terms of that Act, the Surgeon General of the Public Health Service is required to call a conference of this type when requested to do so by a State water pollution control agency. Accordingly, in response to a request of the Utah Water Pollution Control this conference was called by the Surgeon General. The purpose of the conference is to bring together State and local water pollution control agencies and the Public Health Service, and other interested parties to review the existing situation, the progress which has been made, and to lay a basis for future action by all parties concerned, and to give the States, localities and industries an opportunity to take any remedial action which may be indicated under State and local law. Under federal law, the Surgeon General is required at the conclusion of conference to prepare a summary of the conference which will be sent to all conferees. The summary, according to law, must contain the following: 1. Occurrence of pollution of interstate waters subject to abatement under the Federal Act; 2. Adequacy of measures taken toward abatement of pollution; and 3. Nature of delays, if any, being encountered in the abatement of pollution.
