THE LOGAN DAM

In 1912 a design was submitted to us for a small dam for the State Agricultural College near Logan, Utah, with the request that we review the same
and also name a royalty figure. This was done because the State desired
to build it themselves, it being too small to let as a favorable contract. The
design proved entirely satisfactory as to the rollway, but we suggested the

substitution of our ordinary bulkhead construction for the vertical buttress
wall. It was stated, however, that this buttress wall was intended only
as the core wall of an earth embankment, to which we gave our approval.
The dam was built that season without supervision on our part.
