SUMMERLIN PLANNING DOCUMENTS
A planning and design process has been established to deal with the level of
planning required at Summerlin. The process is organized to correspond to the
hierarchy of development activities that takes place in the process of transforming
20,000 acres of land into a new community. The process is classified in three
categories; Summerlin Plans, Summerlin Planning and Design Criteria and City
of Las Vegas Submission Documents. The following is a summary of the various
Summerlin planning documents.
Summerlin Master Plans describe the conceptual layout for the entire 25,000
acre Summerlin Planned Community. The plan includes: Circulation, parks and
open space systems as well as village use areas and community centers.
The Phase One Master Plan describes the first group of villages that cover
approximately 8,000 acres of land. The plan is used to plan infrastructure,
coordinate open space and walkway connections between villages and centers,
assign uses based on the 5 year programs, plan community facilities and services
and plan streetscape and entrances associated with arterial roadways. A Phase I
irrigation master plan has been prepared to maximize efficient use of water.
