MACRO-CLIMATE
(
There are
four
general
climatic
zones
defined
within
North
America
. These
zones
are
classified
by the
characteristics
of
average
temperature
,
humidity
,
wind
, and
sunshine
.
North
of the
Great
Lakes
is
defined
as an
entirely
cool
zone
. The
behavior
of this
system
as
it
affects
human
comfort
established
the
parameters
to
which
building
and
exterior
spaces
should be
designed
. The
goal
is
to
modify
natural
conditions
such
as
temperature
,
wind
, and
humidity
to
expand
the
comfort
zone
. The
following
chart
(Chart
1)
,
is
a
detailed
analysis
of
temperature
and
relative
humidity
in a
cool
climate
. The
midmonth
,
24
hour
average
temperature
and
relative
humidity
are
charted
as
closed
loops
on the
graph
. The
comfort
zone
is
shaded
to
indicate
where
natural
conditions
are
ideal
.
