The journal extracts include descriptions of Borrowman's time in the Mormon Battalion, including his incarceration for falling asleep during guard duty, his experiences gold mining in California, his settlement of a farm in the Salt Lake Valley, Utah, as well as in Salt Creek, Utah, now called Nephi, Utah. This journal is typed from a copy made by the Church Historian's Office from originals deposited there.
