Description
Ephraim
,
Utah
March
30
,
1958
Dear
Laurelp
Probably
there
isn't
much
that
friends
can
say
that will
actually
lessen
the
sorrow
you
feel
now0
Until
one
suffers
a
similar
experience
,
one
cannot
appreciate
what
it
has and
is
meaning
to
you
each
day©
However
,
my
thoughts
and those of
many
other
firiends
,
I
know
, have been with
you
, and if
sympathy
and the
well-wishes
of
many
people
could
help
,
I
am
sure
your
sorrow
has in
some
slight
way
been
made
lighter
, for
you
and
Lincoln
have a
wide
circle
of
close
friends
who
share
in a
mutual
feeling
of
loss
at his
tragic
deatho
How
well
I
remember
coming
to the
station—as
a
bride
, in
fact—and
meeting
the
E13isons
for the
first
time0
Liane
was then a
little
,
blond
,
two-year
old0
I
remember
the
little
courtesies
you
offered
that
made
life
more
pleasant
for us that
summer
while
we
were
living
in the
tent
house
,
such
as
using
your
washing
machine
,
baking
cookies
with
you
,
sitting
by
your
fireplace
, etc. As
our
family
came
along
and
yours
increased
,
your
children
were
Pat's
and
Ann's
first
playmates
, and
most
of their
childhood
memories
are in
some
way
connected
with
Liane
,
Linda
, and
Laurel0
It
seems
utterly
impossible
to
me
now
that those
years
have
sped
so
quickly0
While
your
married
years
together
,
Laurel
,
certainly
were not as
long
as
anyone
would have
desired
,
I
think
you
have the
comfort
that
you
did
make
the
most
of the
years
you
had0
You
shared
each
other's
confidences
,
worked
together
,
planned
and
cared
for
your
children
, and
yet
did
many
things
together
,
both
as a
couple
and as a
family
unite
It
seems
to
me
that
you
were
very
admirable
in that
respect
,
Aleo
,
certainly
,
Lincoln
accomplished
and
contributed
much
which
will
always
be an
honor
to him and to his
family©
Many
people
in
Ephraim
have
expressed
to us their
esteem
for
both
you
and
Lincoln
since
reading
of his
death
.
No
doubt
you
have
heard
from
some
of
them0
I
have
always
thought
of
you
,
Laurel
, as a
person
with a
great
many
capabilities
and
one
that
could
meet
and
adjust
to
about
any
situation
. This, of
course
,
is
the
toughest
for
you
to
face
, and
yet
, with
your
love
of
people
and
ability
to
get
along
,
I
am
sure
that
you
will
find
a
way
to
continue
guiding
your
fine
girls
and
make
a
happy
life
for them and
yourself
. This
is
what
Lincoln
would
want
you
to
doe
I
would have
liked
to have been
able
to
attend
the
services
, but
it
happened
at a
time
when
the
family
was
ill
with the
mumps
and the
flu
, and
it
was
impossible
for
me
to
get
away0
Convey
our
sympathy
to
your
girls
and
Lincoln's
mother
if she
is
with
you
. This
no
doubt
has been
very
hard
for her,
too
,
knowing
her
great
love
for
Lincoln
.
Pat
and
Ann
would
like
Liane's
and
Laurel's
address
if
you
have the
time
to
send
ito
You
will
always
have a
standing
invitation
to
come
and
visit
us
where-
ever
we
are.
We
hope
you
will
use
it
.
We
send
our
love
and
sympathy
to
you
alio
As
ever
