Description	In this publication, the Universal Soil Loss Equation (USLE) is used to determine soil losses for rangelands sites and woodland ecosystems. Using the USLE, the gross soil movement that occurs as sheet and rill erosion has been estimated. Other methods were used to determine gully erosion, streambank erosion and sediment delivery. By putting the two calculations together, total erosion losses and sediment delivery were determined on a given area. This publication will considered only the sheet and rill erosion from Utah's rangelands and forestlands by use of the Universal Soil Loss Equation. It is recognized that conditions under which this manuscript was developed are not likely to duplicate field conditions. For this reason, data presented here should be considered as the best approximations that can be derived from the equation as presently developed. As field use and testing continues, factors in the equation may be modified. The formula/equation is A=RKLSCP, where A is the computed soil loss (sheet and rill) in tons per acre per year. The computations are herer presented on a graph for each range site and woodland ecosystem with a short summary for each. This publication also includes a draft of the BLM manual, "Emergency fire rehabilitation."
