Volume Xi'Xl lo, 19 M STATE FQKBSTERS March 3, 1953
EDITORIAL .
This coming Wednesday, the fourth, of March, there will be a^ special meeting of
the Forestry 01 ub in Room 104 of the Forestry Building to vote on the question of
whether the Engineers will -participate in foresters' Week or not0
Key* this question of Foresters1 Week is not to "be taken lightly-, it is a
serious problem* Up to the present time,.with the exception of last- year, the
Engineers have been content to furnish us with competition for our noon activities
and not; engage in any of our other events* But now they have reorganised Sheir.
club and will not he willing to just furnish us with corn-petition for noon activities*
if the Engineers co-operate at all with us during Foresters1 Wee!;., it will
probably be an all or nothing deal* That is, they will want to combine Foresters*
¥eek with Engineers' Week and split everything S^S^o That means we will have compe¬
tition games at noon, they will.participate in the assembly, have their own queen,
and share 50-50 on Paul's Party, with them trying to have their queen reign as she
did last year over Paul's Party. In other words, it will he ah incorporation of
Foresters* Week and Engineers' Week*
On the other hand, we can keep it strictly Foresters' Week, .have competition
among ourselves, have our own assembly, and be sure that our Queen will reign over
Paul's Party (it will still be open to anyone who wants to come)*
This is the problem that must be settled at.the special meeting this coming
Wednesday, so be sure and be there. Think about this before you come to the meeting
so that you will have some idea of what you want* Remember, it is up to you as a
Club to decide what is to be done, so be sure and attend this special meeting^ the
responsibility for the decision is yours*

HERE'S STORY OF OLD SPH3AE1 BY T333 I IAN WHO BAGGED HIM
"I killed and trapned ^3 bear in.my 3^ years on forest*"
So writes Frank Clark of EFD Mai ad, Idaho, Box 135
It was he who killed Old Ephraim,
You know about Old Ephraim, Such men as Orson Ryan of Logan and Vance D. Walker
of Mendon have been telling about him for some time*
Great old bear was Ephraim* And Mr. Clark's story of the bear's being taken is
delightful.
At the end of his story he writes:
"This story was written on request of Viola S, Schantz, Zoologist Branch of
Wildlife Service, Fish and Wildlife Service, Washington D. C, and is,loaned to
Forest Service to tyne and retain one copy,
"Of the men who saw E-phraim only one besides myself is now alive; is Sam Kemp,
Portage, Utah, who was the first man to see him*»
Forest Rangers Bert Despain and J0 J„ Wise handed us a copy of Frank Clark's
story about Old Ephraim,. We're thankful for it3
And it seems to us that the folks hereabouts would like to read the story. *v.st
