Title	The Grouse Creek Cultural Survey: Integrating Folklife and Historic Preservation Field Research
Description	This report is about the history and culture of Grouse Creek, Utah as it was captured and documented in a cultural survey conducted during July 1985 by a team of folklorists, architectural historians, and historians. The purpose of the survey was to test the idea of combining in the same fieldwork a concern for architecture, folk arts, and folklife. The survey documented both tangible landscape features such as ranch houses and corrals, and intangible traditions such as celebrations, customs, and occupational practices of Grouse Creek's Mormon cowboy (or "buckaroo) culture. The printed report provides the background, organization, and costs of the survey as well as survey findings and conclusions. It is illustrated throughout and describes changes in ranching practices over the years due to the enclosure of the open range and mechanization. It also describes some things that remain largely unchanged, including dependence on horses for rounding up cattle, the cowboy's gear, and use of the East Grouse Creek Water Company's irrigation system which was organized in the 1890s.
