ROUGH DRAFT WDHurst:air October 1, 1963 1200 To : Assistant Regional Foresters From : Floyd Iverson, Regional Forester, By Subject: Organization In a few cases during the past year, members of various divisions have made a simultaneous review of a project or situation on a National Forest and the individual members have prepared separate reports on their findings. This practice not only is an inefficient use of time, but does not assure that we achieve the coordination required. It could be very confusing to the Forest Supervisor concerned, particularly if he received recommendations that were in conflict with one another. To achieve the needed coordination in Joint field reviews by members of various divisions, and as a means of promoting organization efficiency, the following procedure is established: 1. A representative of the division with primary responsibility for a project or situation - for example, Engineering for roads, Timber Management for timber sales, Range Management for range projects, and W&MU for watersheds - will serve as the team chairman, arrange for joint review by representatives of interested divisions, and write a report on the findings, including recommendations. 2. Members from other interested divisions will participate in the review and collaborate in the report preparation in the manner and to the extent directed by the chairman. 3* Each committee member and the Forest Supervisor concerned will be given an opportunity to review the final rough draft of the report and
