Assistant Regional Foresters DATE: December 1, I96U
Floyd Iverson, Regional Forester, By-
In our staff meeting on the afternoon of November 25, 196^, we discussed
the merits of confining parties for retiring Forest Supervisors and
Assistant Regional Foresters to a small group, usually consisting of
the Regional Forester and his immediate staff, as against an open party
to which all interested Forest officers are invited.
For many years in Region k, the retiring Forest Supervisor or Assistant
Regional Forester has been honored by the Regional Forester and his staff.
This has many advantages, particularly in the case of Forest Supervisors,
who are usually honored by their Forest associates at a local party to
which all are invited. On the other hand, the limited party often prohibits many close associates from attending.
The majority of the group at the November 25 meeting favored the open
party. Some favored the more restricted gathering. All agreed, however,
that no matter which procedure we accepted, it should be uniformly applied
to all retiring Forest Supervisors and Assistant Regional Foresters.
Before a definite position is taken on this issue, we will consider it
again in staff meeting on December 7, I96U. Please give it some thought
between now and that date.
In the meantime, arrangements for a party for Supervisor Koziol will be held
