Dear Community Members:
After several months of planning, we are pleased to announce plans to remodel and
expand the historic Mendon Station. This project will restore and preserve many of the
architectural elements of this building while adding an historically appropriate
addition that will include a kitchen, covered patio area, restrooms and storage areas.
With a seating capacity of 155 people, this facility will serve a number of worthwhile
community events, including programs, town meetings, receptions, family reunions,
and the like. We believe it will be often used and appreciated by the residents of the
greater Mendon community.
This brochure includes both the illustrations of some of the plans for the renovation of
this building along with some historical photographs depicting its past.
To complete this project we would like to invite your participation. We have secured
funding to purchase the major construction materials that will be required to complete
a first-class facility. We are confident that many skilled craftsmen would lend a hand
to provide the labor to complete this project. Specifically, we need the following trades:
concrete, carpentry (rough and finish), electrical, plumbing, mechanical, metals,
insulation, sheetrock, masonry, roofing, flooring (both hardwood and ceramic),
cabinetry, painting, landscaping, sprinklers and general labor.
Additionally, cash contributions to purchase quality furnishings, i.e. chairs, kitchen
equipment, sound systems would also be most welcome.
If you would like to help with this project, we invite you to a kick off meeting to be
held, Wednesday August 4, 7 p.m. at the Mendon Station.
We are confident that the spirit of volunteerism still exists in Mendon and that
together, we can create a quality facility that will long be enjoyed in our community.
