Transcript	u.s geological exploration 40th parallel great salt lake city utah june 14th 1869 my dear mother when i recieved your letter i was just starting upon the lake trip, the particulars of which i have just written cousin lillie and from which i have returned safe and sound you do not know how glad i was to hear from you i arrived here safe as i believe i told you=and when i put on my buckskins i created quite a sensation = or rather the fellows all admired the workmanship and style which credit is all due to you mother and they were unanimously voted by all to be the swell rig of the camp and when they asked where i had them made thinking i had got them in the city where they are skilled in such
