Eastport, Maine Aug. 16 1865. My Dear Young Friend, I have just received your letter of the 5th from Washington. If the hawk you refer to be really the Mississippi Kite its abundance(?) with you is quite remarkable. Could you not get some specimens[?] The humming bird referred to is doubtless the female or young male of I. colubras. The tail was probably rounded not forked. The vireo if really vireo is V. flavifrons. The same description could apply well to the Prothonotary warbler, Protonaria citrea.
