/?./o:3C- THE ENCAMPMENT NEWS VOL. I. UTAH AGRICULTURAL COLLEGE, JULY 28,1922. No. 2. JUDGING CONTESTS UNDER WAY. Beef, Dairy Cattle, Oats and Wheat Contests Held. Weber county won the dairy judging contest held yesterday morning, with a total score of 563. The winning team was composed of C. S. Potter, G. Thatcher and W. J. Wilson. Utah County came second with a score of 517 and Davis County third with a score of 507. In the beef cattle contests, Box Elder County, represented by J. L. Weidman, C. J. Adney and John R. Ward, won first place, with a score of 450- Salt Lake and Beaver counties tied for second at 425. Cache County won first in the oats judging contest with a score of 96.5. Box Elder, with 96.25, was second and Sevier County, with 95.2, was third. Cache was represented by Charles G. Wood, G. A. Hogan and L. E. Peterson. In the wheat contest, Sevier County was high with a score of 94.8. H. H. Bell, E. Peterson and Amos Tolboe represented Sevier- Wasatch, with 94.4, was second in this contest and Utah County, with 94, was third. o SCHOOL PEOPLE—TAKE NOTICE An important meeting of members of school boards, school superintendents, high school principals and high school teachers will be held this morning at 8 FARMERS MUST STICK TOGETHER. Waters Declares Organization and Cooperation Necessary If Farmers Are to Prosper. "The farmer has done more thinking since the war than in fifty years before, and as a result he has about made up his mind to go into business for himself", declared Dr. H. J. Waters, former president of Kansas State Agricultural College in the second of his lectures before the general session of the Farmers Encampment yesterday afternoon, at the Utah Agricultural College. It has cost too much to market the products of the farmer, insisted the speaker, and the farmer is entitled to a greater part of what the consumer pays for farm products. The American farmer to-day, owing to his attitude during the war and since, stands high in the estimation of his fellow citizens and he must not lose his great prestige by seeking his rights through unfair methods. History is full of striking illustrations showing how failure has come to organizations through their inconsiderate and selfish demands. o o'clock in the Faculty Room Main Building. Matters of vital interest to the schools will be discussed. You are urged to attend. CACHE DEFEATS BOX ELDER IN FIRST GAME, Two Games Tomorrow. Finals To Be Played Saturday. Cache County won the opening game of the world's series yesterday afternoon when she downed Box Elder 8 to 2. Box Elder scored one run in the sixth on an error and one in the seventh on a home run by Wheatley. Leading hitters for Cache County were Jardine, Balls" and Archibald. Batteries were—Cache Jardine and Thompson; Box Elder: L. Hunsaker and Wheat- ley, j ;■ Score , Runs Hits Errors Cache 8 9 2 Box Elder.... 2 4 4 Tomorrow at 4 P. M- Davis crosses bats with Morgan and Weber meets Utah. The games will be played on the field north of the barns and on Adam's field. o IMPORTANT CHANGE IN PROGRAM. President Heber J. Grant, of the L- D. S. Church will be one of the principal speakers at the general 10 o'clock assembley this morning in the College Chapel. This will be in addition to the regularly scheduled program. Don't get overexcited reading those advertisements of patent vitamine preparations. You can get all you need in vegetables, fruit and milk.
