FARMERS MUST STICK
TOGETHER.
Waters Declares Organization
and Cooperation Necessary If
Farmers Are to Prosper.
"The farmer has done more
thinking since the war than in
fifty years before, and as a result he has about made up his
mind to go into business for
himself", declared Dr. H. J.
Waters, former president of
Kansas State Agricultural College in the second of his lectures
before the general session of the
Farmers Encampment yesterday
afternoon, at the Utah Agricultural College.
It has cost too much to market
the products of the farmer, insisted the speaker, and the farmer is
entitled to a greater part of what
the consumer pays for farm products.
The American farmer to-day,
owing to his attitude during the
war and since, stands high in the
estimation of his fellow citizens
and he must not lose his great
prestige by seeking his rights
through unfair methods. History
is full of striking illustrations
showing how failure has come to
organizations through their inconsiderate and selfish demands.
