Legislators:
H.B. 191 ftp Paul M. Peterson, Is and should be the one Bill
before our Honorable Body of lawmakers;. Tae Bill I «hyt Because,
If this Bill is passed and we are given an intelligent, friendly
Committee for our 3EXF«nKLF projects, there is In it the posslbll-
Mf of ^PP- growing out of, and eliminating entirely the hideous
pioture we now have before usj 137,OCX) citizens on relief—16,000
who will have to be helped, other than putting them to work,
10,000 poor souls who oan never retrieve themselves without special
treatment, such as hospital or medical care.
While you are convened in session to pass tails Bill, we want
you to know there is this 137,000 of the struggling mass who will
bow their heads in silent prayer or lift their heads In a plea to
God in your behalf, while you overcome the opposition that might
arise against the passing of this Bill. Hot now. but In the future,
the passage of this Bill will place you in a realm all of your
own. Blessed by suffering humanity, long may you be remembered
as the Legislature oi  1935 that gave us the opportunity to help
ourselves and get off relief. There is Just one Bill before you
that will do this and it is H.B, 191, by  Paul M. Peterson.
True Democracy may be the ideal form of Government if made
to function as the true instrument of the people, predicated on
the rights of men.
Now, Mr. Chairman and Legislators, to us who are hungry,
OOla. and hougless; the principles of our flag Is down.1 Lets
hang It to the mast ** pull It to the top • make it wave over our
people, for equality, justice and happiness.' In this we can
agree: H  must stand together, be loud in protest against anything, programs or persons, that dare to obstruct our path. There
