CCOUNTSB ONCERNING
AUGUST-SEPTEMBER 1959
PICKS UP ALL THE DIRT
VOLUME 2

CTRIKE!
PAX COMPANY KEGLERS
LAUNCH SUCCESSFUL SEASON
The PAX Company bowling team went into
its third season this year and, if the boys
barrel along with the same vigor and determination they're showing right now, they
should emerge victorious next spring.
Currently, they are tied for second
place in their league with eleven wins and
five losses.
Here, our roster of stout-hearted,
steel-muscled athletes: Jim Hughes, top
man with a 17^ season average; Ray Anderson
with 131; Arlo Bailey. 1^5; John Carr. 163;
Harry Fern. 156; Don Powell, 157; Gary Reid,
129 and"Henry Smith, 163.
Yep, they're a good group!
Speaking of bowling, more and more husband and wife teams are bowling in the
mixed doubles leagues. Among them...John
and Lee Carr...Rose and Frank Johnson...Don
and Betty Powell...Jeannie and Dennie Brown.
This, by the way, is Jeannie's first year
in bowling and, already, her team has won a
high-game trophy.
UCA RECEIVES HONORS
AT NATIONAL CONVENTION
W.B. Robins, UCA general manager, once
again was elected to the board of directors, National Cooperatives, Inc., at the
recent NCI convention held in Chicago's
Congress Hotel.
The trip was most rewarding, according
to Mr. Robins, and UCA should feel extremely proud of the outstanding national
recognition it received.
Other UCA delegates to the convention
were sales manager, Henry Smith, Erval
Hansen, Co-op sales supervisor, and Harry
Fern, advertising.
Henry Smith accepted UCA's gleaming
bronze trophy, awarded for our position
among the top nine tire purchasers in the
nation during the past year.
UCA also received a $50.00 award for
highest percentage of increase in appliance
sales.
According to the UCA delegates, there
was much to see...much to be learned at
the annual conclave. And we're proud of
the way Erval, Henry and Harry took advantage of an opportunity for three delegates
to attend the meet for the price of one.
It was originally planned for just one
representative to visit the windy city -
via the airlines. However, the three decided that if one were to forgo the luxury of first class airline travel, all
three could travel on an uncomfortable, but
quite dependable, train day coach.
Result - several sleepness nights
sitting up in stiff train coach chairs
and a few aching muscles, but they all
three attended the convention. Pretty
nice example of cooperation.
