\ Dear Jack*
I am sending you a "book today, by yourself, which I wish
you would autograph. I bought the book for our boy here who is
nineteen, and although his name is foreign enough, he was born in
Chicago. At present he is"crazy" over your books and at the present
time is reading three at a time, but seens to remain healthy and in
full possession of his senses. 1 got him this bbok because I wanted
I to put him wise as to what to read to help him forward (this is no
f reflection on the three books he is reading at present!) As I re-
member you mentioned the books that helped you in"Mariin iiden". If
you write in this book I feel it will please him immensely. He is
a boy well worth while helping, so I know you will not mind doing
this , will you ? Enclosed find stamps to pay for freturn of same.
Hope your autograph will not make It -weigh anji morel
Heard from Jimmy the other day and he says he is "homesick" and will
be glad to get back to Carmel. That the sights and news he hears
of the war makes him sick.
Sophie 1'cGeehan has a skit on at Pantages, tsken from her Bulletin
tale, "Jean Tralg."
The boy's name to be In the book is Adam J.Xiemczwskl, which beats
Bone of the places In Europe in the war mixup.
Love to you and Charm an.
Did Hakata ever jet the ties I sent him Xmaa.
