NEW FORESTS, ADDITIONS TO, AID ELIMINATIONS PROM EXISTING FORESTS
The examination of Forest boundaries will be undertaken
under instructions from the Chief" Inspector in charge of the
District concerned, along plans approved by the Forester. Tile
field men will be directly subject to the orders of the Chief
Inspector. They will correspond with him in regard to their
work, will submit maps, reports, and all other correspondence
through him, and will write to the Washington Office only in
cases of emergency.
Areas to be examined will be outlined on State maps
or described in letters of instruction, but the examination need
not be confined to these lines. It should include all lands
of the locality which prove to be suited to National Porest purposes. The examiner will be held responsible for having examined and reported to the Chief Inspector all lands in the section
of a State where he has been working. Townships in which the
lands are 90 per cent alienated need not be examined. If well
timbered grader that they should be examined far snough. to reach
