As per appointment with Ranger Haines, the writer
left Logan, July ?, in company witn Supervisor Shepard, and
drove to tne Hardware Ranch with the Government owned motorcycle and siae-van; leaving Logan at ?:2o P. M. ana arriving
at tne Hardware Rancn at y:£b, - a distance oi Eb miles.
July 8.
Alter connecting up the telephone at the Hardware
Rancn, Supervisor Shepard returned, to Logan, and tne writer,
in company witn Ranger Haines, starteu along tne line toward
the Summers' cabin in -Elk Valley, rnaicing tne necessary improvements in tne line to secure efficient working service. Camp
was iaaue xor tne nignt at tne Saddle Creek Ford, soutn ox the
mouth ox Dip Hollow.
A number ox poles were propped up scissor fashion by
the use ox aspen poles *«r spikedi  to within a foot or so
ox trie top ox the telephone poles. All orackets, insulators
and tie wires were replaced wnere necessary.
