Live performance in amphitheater
Completed amphitheater, incorporating the design seen in first image.
The Heard Museum Amphitheater
The Heard Museum is recognized for
having one of the leading collections of
Native American art on display in the
nation. In efforts to broaden the range
of user groups, and accommodate new
art collections, more indoor classrooms,
an indoor auditorium space and an
outdoor amphitheater were added to
the existing museum.
Design Workshop designed the new
outdoor amphitheater responding to a
contemporary mission style architecture
while reflecting Native American
culture. The amphitheater design uses
significant Native American influences
to create a unique entry experience and
performance area, allowing the
celebration of culture and history.
This project was honored and awarded
with highest honor for Environmental
Excellence by Valley Forward in 1999
for site and landscape design.
