The Seventh Street Esplanade is a riverfront plaza
that connects Glenwood Springs’ downtown business
district, the railroad station and tourist accommodations.
The Esplanade redevelops an unused, automobile-oriented
area into a vibrant pedestrian amenity. It also
generates a strong entrance image from I-70 and for
arriving Amtrak passengers.
Design Workshop developed conceptual designs, assisted
the city in presenting and reviewing plans with city
agencies and citizen groups, and prepared construction
documents. Streetscape design included lighting, paving,
retaining walls and planting. The tone and texture
complements historic buildings in the city, including the
Hotel Colorado and the train depot. ◆
