Lobo Ranch is a 45,000 acre working cat-tle
ranch in the eastern foothills of Mount
Taylor with a diverse history of Native
American, Spanish and ranching settle-ment.
Design Workshop explored the
property’s opportunities and constraints
for management and development based
on enriching its cultural heritage and
preserving its natural qualities.
A study began with GIS analysis and
followed with four days on the prop-erty.
On foot, on four-wheelers and in
a helicopter, our team developed the
knowledge that informed our analy-sis.
Working with the client to establish
evaluation criteria, Design Workshop
synthesized data on natural resources,
development potential and climate into
a developable summary map and a set of
Winner of the New Mexico Chapter
of the American Society of Landscape
Architect’s 2007 Honor Award for plan-ning
and analysis, this work will help
Lobo Ranch become a legacy for future
