Dale L, Swenson Salt Lake City,Utah About 1958 Legend Bear Lake Monster Dale L. Swenson lives in Salt Lake City, Utah,,and is the father of the collecter of this item,, He is a high school industrial education teacher and enjoys his family0 He was raised in Cache Valley near Logan and has spent many days exploring the Cache Valley Area. ■it # # When I was a small child my father would take my family on a vacation every summer in August to Bear Lake. We looked forward to this vacation all during the winter and spring. While driving through Logan Canyon my father would relate stories of his childhood to the family0 One of his favorite stories is the following legend which he learned from his mother many years ago. * # * It is a fact that the bottom of Bear Lake has not yet been discoverede At different times of the day the collor of the lake mysteriously changes and storms arise quickly. Sometimes the lake is four of five different shades of blue at the same time. The darker shades of blue indicate the deepest parts of the lake and the spots where man has not seen the bottom, nor has machine been able to measure the dept. It is told that in the undiscovered bottoms of this lake dwells the Bear Lake Monstero This monster horribly devours boats which are unable te return to shore when a storm arises.
