Kananaskis Village
Alberta, Canada
1 Master Plan
2 Pedestrian Walkway Along Central Stream
With the 1988 Calgary Olympics and
increased tourism year-round in its
future, Kananaskis Valley needed a mas-ter
plan to outline a cohesive vision and
development path. Design Workshop
began this planning effort with a broad
environmental analysis of the 51,000-acre
site, then determined location and design
of a central village. This village core pro-vides
accommodations and services for
visitors, including four hotels, a confer-ence
center, commercial and retail space
and many recreational amenities. To
ensure Kananaskis lived up to its world-class
resort potential, Design Workshop
also managed the design process for
individual development parcels within
the master plan.
