Design Workshop was recruited to develop a master plan for
the 14 Acre base village, to analyze existing mountain ski
terrain and infrastructure, to develop sustainable solutions
alternatives and to develop a market analysis for retail and
residential housing options.
Beginning with a five day charrette in Hakuba and Tokyo, Ja-pan,
Design Workshop conducted stakeholder work sessions,
met with local specialists and developed a foundational plan
that evolved into a comprehensive document being used to
navigate the approvals process today.
The resulting master plan designed in conjunction with Gen-sler
Architects includes a pedestrian retail street, hotel ac-commodations
with spa and onsen, condominium and town
home residential units, skier services, ski school, skier terrain
additions and operations upgrades.
