Goodyear City Center
Goodyear, Arizona
Since the late 1980's the City of Goodyear
designated the lands surrounding the intersection
of Estrella Parkway and Yuma Roads as the site
for a future City Center, approximately 1/2
square mile in size. SunChase Estrella hired
Design Workshop to prepare a land use plan for
the area to address the impacts of development
adjacent to the proposed construction of a new
city hall, library, and other governmental offices
on the northwest quadrant of the City Center.
The overall plan for the City Center developed
by Design Workshop was used by SunChase
Estrella in order to communicate their development
goals effectively to the City and to surrounding
property owners. The plan addressed planning
issues such as land use, circulation and open
space. In the future, the plan will address design
issues such as building height, setbacks, and
pedestrian amenities and landscaping.
Planned uses of the City Center included a mix
of office, commercial retail, service retail and
high density residential in a pattern that would
encourage pedestrian-oriented and outdoor
activities.
