The Residences at the Little Nell is
designed to replace a downtown block of
older, nondescript commercial and resi-dential
structures built over the period
of Aspen’s development as a destination
resort. As an infill project at the base of
the world-famous Aspen Mountain, the
project needed to convey the elegance
appropriate to a world-class resort, while
still paying homage to the mining history
of the site.
The Residences at Little Nell is made up
of 24 fractional ownership units, eight
hotel units, eight affordable housing units
and 35,000 square feet of retail. Design
Workshop provided landscape architec-ture
services for the entire site program.
Highlights of the site program include
relocating the Little Nell ski lift, a new
retail pedestrian promenade, a new après
ski deck and outdoor restaurant terrace
(over structure), extension of the Silver
Queen Gondola Plaza (over structure), an
outdoor courtyard and firepit (over struc-ture),
private ski-in/ski-out terraces, and a
rooftop pool sundeck (over structure). The
rooftop pool sundeck consists of a large
sunbathing and gathering area, an outdoor
firepit, two spas, seating garden, swim-ming
pool and a water garden.
