Dr. Daryl Chase, President
Utah State University
Dear Dr. Chase:
December 11, 1961
We would like to give you our strong endorsement to the highway construction report issued by the College ot Forest, Range and Wildlife Management.
Perhaps the State Road Commission tells that they are doing an excellent job, but those who do not like to see the ruthless defacement of forest
and landscape feel otherwise. Whenever one avocates a wise conservation principle in Utah, it is bound to be attacked by a few highly vocal
anti-conservationists. As an institution of higher learning USU has wisely permitted the publication of unbiased studies such as this, in
the full tradition of academic tradition. In addition, these conservation studies are appreciated by a great number of state citizens, perhaps a majority, who, like ourselves, rarely have time to offer congratulations
tor a job well done.
J. Calvin Giddings, President
Wasatch Mt. Club
