Dear Mr. Zolinger:
The Sierra Club is concerned a.bout the numerous new reflectors and posts
that were placed along the lower portion of Logan canyon Highwa.y (U.S. 89)
during the Utah Dep:trtment of Tra.nsporta.tion's recent maintenance operation.
We feel that these closely spaced markers are very unsightly. They detract
from the canyon's scenic surroundings because of their eye level height for long
distancees on both sides of the road.
The Sierra Club believes that Logan Canyon's roadway must be treated as a
unique highway whenever any road project is undertaken, including maintenance
work. Concerns about the canyon's visual asthetics and physical environment
must take precedence over Federal and State highway standards.
Sincerely, Rudy Lukez, Chair cc: Dave Baumgartner, USFS-Logan Stan Nuffer, CH2M Hill
